Privacy Policy
This site does not ask for your name, your email or any health information. There are no accounts, no newsletter, no quizzes and no symptom checkers. The server keeps standard request logs, and Cloudflare sits in front of the site as a security and delivery layer. No advertising network, analytics profile or data broker receives anything about you from here.
What information is collected?
| Data | Why it exists | How long it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Server request logs: IP address, timestamp, requested URL, browser user agent, referring page | Automatically created by the web server for every website. Used for security and to see which pages are being read. | Rotated by the host on a rolling basis, typically within weeks |
| Cloudflare security data | Cloudflare delivers and protects this site. It processes request metadata to block attacks and serve pages quickly. | Per Cloudflare’s own retention policy |
| Search terms typed into the site search box | Appear in the URL of the results page and therefore in server logs. | With the logs above |
| The content of any email you send | To answer you. | Until the exchange is finished, then deleted |
That is the complete list. There is no account system, no comment section, no newsletter signup, no contact form, no quiz, no symptom checker and no health questionnaire. Nothing on this site asks for a date of birth, a Social Security number, an insurance member ID, a medical record or a document upload, and no page ever will.
Does this site use cookies or trackers?
The site sets no advertising cookies and runs no advertising network. It does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel or any similar profiling script. WordPress may set a functional cookie if you log in to the administration area, which applies to the editor and not to readers.
Two external services are requested by your browser when a page loads: Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces used here, and Cloudflare, which delivers the page. Each necessarily sees your IP address in order to respond, in the same way any server you request a file from does. Nothing is sent to either of them about what you read beyond the request itself.
Is my health information collected?
No. Reading a page about a condition tells this site nothing about you personally, and there is nowhere on this site to enter symptoms, test results or a diagnosis. Because no health information is collected, none can be sold, shared or breached. This is a deliberate design choice for a health site, not an accident of scale.
Note that HIPAA does not apply here in either direction: it governs healthcare providers, plans and clearinghouses, and this site is a publisher.
Is anything sold or shared?
No. Personal information is not sold, rented, traded or shared with data brokers, advertisers, insurers or health companies. There is no affiliate program, no lead generation and no list. Information is disclosed only where the law requires it, such as a valid legal process.
What rights do I have?
If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because this site collects no personal information beyond server logs, in practice there is usually nothing held about you to disclose or delete.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. The lawful basis for processing server logs is legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected] with “Privacy” in the subject line. Requests are answered within 30 days. Because so little is held, be aware that identifying your own records in a server log usually requires you to supply the IP address and approximate time yourself.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the editorial inbox, email the address above and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
If the site ever adds analytics, advertising or any form of data collection, this page will be updated before that change goes live, not afterwards, and the last-reviewed date at the top will reflect it. Material changes will be described in plain language rather than buried in a revised clause.
Privacy questions
Do you know what I searched for or read?
Only in the same aggregate way any web server does: a log line showing that a URL was requested from an IP address at a time. There is no profile, no identifier tying visits together, and no way to connect a page view to a person.
Is there a newsletter?
No, and there is no signup box anywhere on the site. No email list exists.
Why is Cloudflare involved?
It delivers pages quickly and absorbs attacks. It is infrastructure, in the same category as the web host, and it processes request metadata to do that job.
Can I read the site without Google Fonts loading?
Yes. Blocking third-party font requests in your browser changes only the typefaces. Every page remains fully readable, since all content is served as plain HTML.
